Exhibit on Jervois – Auckland
A restrained material palette brings texture, continuity and depth to the interiors of Exhibit on Jervois, positioned along Auckland's Jervois Road.
Designed by Monk Mackenzie and developed by Artifact, with interiors led by Artifact and informed by Amelia Holmes, the project takes a considered approach to materiality. Throughout the residences, Novacolor Marmorino KS Venetian plaster and Cemher microcement were selected for different applications, creating a cohesive surface language while responding to the performance requirements of each space.
Across the living areas, Marmorino KS introduces subtle movement and a soft mineral quality to the walls. Applied entirely by hand, the fine-grain Venetian plaster responds gently to changing light, bringing depth to the interior without competing with the architecture.
In the bathrooms, wet areas and surfaces requiring greater durability, Cemher microcement continues the restrained material palette with a seamless, contemporary finish. Its subtle tonal variation allows the transition between living and functional spaces to feel considered rather than disconnected.
Together, the two finishes demonstrate how Venetian plaster and microcement can work alongside one another within the same architectural project - Marmorino KS selected for its decorative depth and material character, and microcement for areas where greater surface performance is required.
The result is a calm and cohesive interior where texture is present but never overpowering, allowing the architecture and material palette to take the lead.
