Venetian Plaster
Where traditional craftsmanship meets modern material innovation, Novacolor Venetian plaster brings centuries-old technique into contemporary architectural spaces.
Originating in ancient Rome and refined during the Renaissance in Venice, Venetian plaster is a decorative mineral finish traditionally composed of slaked lime and finely ground marble. The result is a surface rich in depth, movement and natural sheen.
Applied in multiple hand-trowelled layers, each surface is carefully built up to create subtle tonal variation and texture. Finishes can be burnished to achieve a smooth, polished appearance or worked with varied techniques to produce a more expressive, textural effect.
Unlike flat paint, Venetian plaster introduces materiality - light interacts with the surface, revealing depth and character throughout the day.
Suitable for residential and commercial interiors and exteriors, Novacolor Venetian plaster offers a refined alternative to traditional wall finishes - elevating spaces with enduring sophistication and timeless beauty.
-
Novacolor decorative plasters are made in Italy, combining traditional craftsmanship with modern material innovation. Each finish reflects decades of research into mineral surfaces, texture and architectural performance.
-
Unlike flat paint finishes, Novacolor Venetian plaster and decorative coatings create natural depth, movement and tonal variation. Every surface is hand-applied, resulting in a finish that feels layered, tactile and unique.
-
Many Novacolor finishes are lime or mineral-based, allowing walls to breathe naturally. This vapour permeability helps regulate moisture and contributes to healthier interior environments.
-
Novacolor offers solutions for interior walls, feature ceilings and façades. Exterior systems, such as concrete-effect finishes, provide weather resistance and long-term performance in New Zealand conditions.
-
Our Venetian Plaster is designed to last and are backed by a 10-year product warranty.
Novacolor exterior plaster systems are supported by a 15-year product warranty.
