Kayu Studio – Auckland + Mount Maunganui

A considered retail environment where natural materials, texture and craftsmanship take centre stage.

Across Kayu Studio's Auckland and Mount Maunganui spaces, Novacolor Calce Cruda Venetian plaster was selected to bring softness, movement and a natural mineral character to the interior walls.

Applied entirely by hand, Calce Cruda creates a tactile, matte surface with subtle tonal variation. As light moves through the spaces, the finish shifts gently in appearance, giving the walls depth without competing with Kayu Studio's carefully curated collection of furniture and objects.

The understated texture complements the studio's focus on natural materials and considered design, allowing the walls to become part of the overall material palette rather than simply a backdrop.

The result is a calm, cohesive retail interior where architecture, objects and finish sit comfortably together.
